Drottningholms' Restaurant and Café
The visitor centre in the white building beside the palace's waterfront – known as Karamellan – also houses Drottningholm Palace Café. Here, classic Swedish home cooking is served together with coffee, pastries, sandwiches, beer and wine.
From 26 November to 22 December, Karamellan will only be serving Christmas buffet.
There has been a Swiss-style café at Drottningholm Palace since the latter half of the 19th century. This type of café, where visitors could enjoy coffee and fancy pastries, was a common feature of public parks and tourist destinations in the 19th century.
Karamellan, as the building is now known, was built in 1903 to a design by the Court Architect Agi Lindegren. Karamellan enjoys a prominent position at Drottningholm Palace, which since 1991 has been inscribed on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
